To continue in-depth research on the basis of my doctoral research results and actively carry out international cooperation.

How did you know our Graduate School? And what kind of research do you conduct now?

When I was in my fourth year of college in my home country, I learned about Okayama University from my senior who was a student at Okayama University. After the exchanges and contacts with the instructors, I decided to study in Japan. when I graduate from college, I chose to continue my studies at the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering in Health Systems at Okayama University. Now I am in the Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory at this graduate school, my main research direction is the study of the neural mechanism of the influence of unconscious information processing on decision‐making.

Why did you decide to study at our Graduate School?

The research team of the Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory of Okayama University has rich experience in cognitive science and brain imaging analysis, and has deep research reserves. It is an internationally leading scientific research team in this field, which is the most important reason why I decided to come to Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering in Health Systems at Okayama University. Through the contact with the tutors in the laboratory, the academic ability and the sincere personality of the teachers are also very attractive to me. In addition, the long history of Okayama University and the excellent natural and humanistic environment of Okayama prefecture are also one of the important reasons to attract me.

What was the most memorable, happy, or enjoyable thing that happened to you in Japan (after you came to Okayama, on campus, etc.)? And, please tell us if there are any experiences you would like to try or places you would like to visit in Japan during your stay.

Before coming to Japan, although I had studied Japanese well in China, I didn’t know how to speak when I first arrived in Japan. It is difficult to express your thoughts and demands correctly. At that time, I received strong support from my Japanese classmates in the laboratory, and almost all the Japanese questions in the report were carefully revised for me. And not only my classmates at school, but also most of the Japanese people I meet in daily life are very enthusiastic and willing to help me as a foreigner. This makes me feel very reassured and happy. At present, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, travel has been greatly restricted. I hope that the COVID-19 pandemic will end sooner, and that my family can come to Japan to travel together.

What is the appeal of your campus life?

After coming to Okayama, the local customs and culture are very attractive to me. For example, Okayama city is the site of Koraku-en, known as one of the three best traditional gardens in Japan. In addition,Kurashiki Bikan Area is popular as a tourist destination. It is a beautifully preserved historical district located in Kurashiki city of Okayama prefecture. Okayama is also famous for cultivation of white peach. Okayama’s white peaches are juicy and taste fresh with an elegant sweetness. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, in my spare time, I often visit these interesting places with my friends, which makes my life feel full.

How do you think about your future career path?

During my studies, I hope to have a broader research horizon through my study experience in Japan. At the same time, it can deepen the academic exchanges between China and Japan, widen my eyesight and learn the latest theoretical achievements and research methods in the exchanges with international researchers. If I can successfully complete my studies and get a doctorate, I hope to continue in-depth research on the basis of my doctoral research results and actively carry out international cooperation. Strive to become a qualified researcher in this field, to cultivate the next generation of talents in the field of brain science, and to contribute to improving the level of research in this field.

Please give a message to those who are thinking of studying at our Graduate School.

Okayama University is a research-oriented national university with a long history and outstanding research strength, while the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering in Health Systems, as a new research department, maintains a very strong energy. Here you can get in touch with teachers in many different research directions and learn about many areas that this major will not touch. These are very helpful for international students to broaden their eyesights. In the process of studying abroad at this Graduate School, if there are various problems and troubles, the tutors and classmates of the school will be very enthusiastic to help you.
